5 Monthly Favorites: November Edition.

5 Monthly Favorites Blog Header-4.png

Hey shoppers!

This post showcases my 5 favorite things in fashion, beauty, health, food, and sweet treats for the month of November.

1.  Pretty in PewterIMG_1297.jpgThis month’s fashion favorite is Melie Bianco’s ‘Dory’ crossbody. I purchased this beauty at a local boutique in Ohio called Knuth’s.  My mom actually pointed it out to me and at first I was a little hesitant. I thought “do I really need another purse?” But I tried it on and couldn’t resist — now I wear it ALL the time! Definitely one of my go-to bags! It has two compartments that easily fit my phone, credit cards, lipstick, keys, etc. It’s super convenient if I want to wear a purse but only bring the essentials with me. It comes in a ton of different colors, but I love the pewter color I chose!

2.  One Roach I’m not getting rid of.

This month’s beauty favorite is Urban Decay’s 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil, specifically in the Roach brown color! I’ve used these eyeliner’s for years in many different colors — purple, pink, blue, green — you name it! However, I’ve recently been gravitating more towards neutral tones and colors. Since the majority of the clothes in my closet are black, wearing black eyeliner can be a bit much on me. Urban Decay’s many shades of brown  are great basics if you’re wanting to try something new!

3.  Heading to LA

And no, I don’t mean to Los Angeles (although I wish haha). I just became a member at LA Fitness gyms! I’m so ready to get myself back into a fitness regime and sweat my butt off! With having such an inconsistent work schedule lately, its proved to be a bit difficult. However, I’m looking forward to getting organized, setting a schedule and becoming the best self I can be! 🙂

4.  So, this fruit walks into a bar …

And it’s delicious! hahaIMG_1731.jpgThis month’s food favorite is Trader Joe’s “This [Fruit] walks into a bar” low-calorie cereal bars. Basically substituting as my breakfast on the days I’m running late for work — these are great and easy snacks that really fill you up (at only 140 calories a bar)!

I’m obsessed with the apple and strawberry flavors — I have yet to try to others. 🙂

5.  Love you more than Fro-yo!IMG_1213.JPGThis month’s sweet treat favorite is Frozen yogurt! Pictured above is this super cute fro-yo shop — all organic and vegan, by the way! — in Ohio called PiccaDilly. It’s super cute and so yummy — definitely a fun place to visit! Other great frozen yogurt shops are 16 Handles, Menchie’s, Pinkberry, Yogurtland … just to name a few.

Turning 23 and other life happenings.

Hello shoppers!

Wow, its been a while — hasn’t it?

These past couple of months have gone by in such a whirlwind! I visited with family in Ohio, turned 23, and had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration.

Last year I wrote a post on my 22nd birthday about all the life lessons I’ve learned thus far. I find it only fitting to continue to add onto that list as I turn another year older (and hopefully a bit wiser):

23. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Look at both pictures (big and small), take a deep breath and then decide.

I am by no means at a place where I can sufficiently say that I have learned this lesson, but this year has made me more aware of it. For that fact alone is why I decided to make it my life lesson for this year. Most of the time, I get bent out of shape on the smallest (and sometimes) most insignificant things — that it clouds my judgement. It seems that I have no shortage of stress and that it’s almost a daily occurence for me. However, it’s no one’s fault but my own (even if I’d like to blame the slow driver in front of me haha). Not sweating the small stuff and going with the flow is the best lesson to learn. If nothing else, it will be able to help you look at any situation objectively and make decisions in a clearer state of mind. For other than major events … Life shouldn’t be stressful. You only get to ride this rollercoaster once, so make it fun and make it count! 🙂

Currently writing up my 5 monthly favorites before November ends … so stay tuned!

explore-3.pngHey shoppers!

A few weeks ago I took a mini-vacay and traveled to Chicago! It has always been one of my go-to wishlist destinations — so I’m glad I got to take some time off and go with my parents for a couple of days! 🙂

We explored all around the city — visiting the Bean, Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue, the Navy Pier, various restuarants and taking a ride on an Architecture Boat tour!

The Bean

Wildberries in Chicago is now one of my new favorite breakfast places — so good! 🙂

Beautiful views along the Chicago River

111 Livin’

Its been two weeks since I moved into to my new apartment complex and I’m so happy! Between starting full-time, moving, and trying to find hobbies outside of the office — it has been a whirlwind of craziness!

As I’m settling in, I can’t help but rave about the atmosphere and the area! There is so much to do and it makes the commute to work a breeze — I couldn’t be more thankful! It helps me feel more grown up finally being out of the college area. Excited to explore and meet more of my new neighbors!

Here’s a peek inside of my fabulous new hide-away for when 5 o’clock rolls around haha.

As for other happenings – just trying to adjust and get used to my new normal! I’m going to give a few new hobbies a try: kickboxing and wire-wrapping jewelry!

I’m also planning on ramping up my writing and maybe finish a story or two (instead of reading a million haha)!

I’ll be updating you next with my latest adventure and my first travel post – my recent trip to Chicago! It was a lot of fun and I’m so glad I got to experience it! More on that next week!

Off to the Office: Zara edition.

“Work, work, work, work, work” as Rhianna sings in that one song of the same name … has become my life as a new college grad!

Hopefully starting full-time work in a couple of weeks (waiting to hear back), I’ve had to start stocking up on some new business attire for my wardrobe! There go my combat boots in exchange for flats & heels, my jeans for business pants, and tee’s for blouses. I’ve had a few pieces from my time during my internship, however, I only went in a couple of days a week. Now, that it will be everyday, I’m going to need a lot more options haha.

I’ve had some great success at TJMAXX, Forever 21, Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack/HauteLook and most recently Zara!

One thing I’ve noticed is that you have to go in without any expectations when looking for work clothes, since that’s when I usually find the best pieces! 🙂 It’s always good to have some sort of idea in terms of style and looks, but it can be a bit tricky to find the exact piece of clothing / item you have in your mind.

This is especially true in regards to my recent trip to Zara. My parents were in town visiting and we went to explore Disney Springs. It was my Mom’s idea to go inside and look around — so I was surprised to walk out with bags in hand!

This red-orange jacket is what first caught my eye — I just had to do a double take! It’s so bright, vibrant, and fun! Definitely a great piece to mix and match with and will for sure turn a few heads. 😉

With such a vibrant color as this, I think it’s best to let it stand on its own and wear it with very subtle amounts of other colors.

Accessory colors: emerald-green, pink, lilac, fuchsia, orange, and gold.

Blouse and pants colors: grey, nude/light brown, white, black, dark/light blue.

The other item I purchased (which I plan to wear with this jacket) are these grey business pants. They’re great because of how versatile they are — I mean, grey goes with everything! They fit very well and are really comfortable!

I suggest every working girl must have at least one pair of grey business pants as well as black for your office wardrobe!

5 Monthly Favorites: May Edition.

5 Monthly Favorites Blog Header - May.pngHey shoppers!

This post showcases my 5 favorite things in fashion, beauty, health, food, and sweet treats for the month of May.

1.  Out Of This World!IMG_9634.JPGThis month’s fashion favorite is my new pair of Ray-Ban Wayfarer’s. Part of the Cosmo collection — they’re pretty out of this world! I have been needing a new pair of Ray-ban’s ever since I unfortunately lost my other pair a while back. When I saw these on sale on HauteLook — I knew I had to try them! At first, I was a bit hesitant if they would go with a lot, considering they’re an iridescent mix of purple and blue — which is a far cry from my last pair of plain black. However, I was pleasantly surprised and fell in love with them! I’ve gotten a ton of compliments and feel like I’m looking out into a whole new universe. 😉

2.  Chubby LipsSAM_0237.JPGThis month’s beauty favorite is Clinique’s ‘Chubby Stick’ Moisturizing Lip Color Balm.  I’ll be the first to say I’ve never been a huge fan of make-up — especially anything that takes more than 10 minutes to do (a.k.a. contouring) or leaves me feeling disheveled (such as lip-gloss). Lets face it, I’ve just started wearing mascara everyday and putting more than just concealer on my face. However, I recently came across Clinique’s Chubby Stick’s and they are AMAZING! They’re moisturizing, stay on for quite a while, and come in all kinds of great shades! I definitely suggest checking them out next time you’re at the mall.

3.  Do You Even Lift?

This past semester I finally started to get serious about my fitness goals. I haven’t been in the best place (confidence or self-esteem wise) and it definitely had a lot to do with how I felt about my weight. Now having officially graduated from college — still crazy to think about — I’m now at the gym everyday (if not every other day)! I’ve been eating healthier, cutting out a lot that I used to eat: not as much bread, no fast food, less chocolate — although still can’t get away from it completely — haha. I’m nowhere near my goal but am proud that I’ve started heading in the right direction! I’m feeling a lot better about myself and am hoping in the next few months I can say I’m a lot closer to where I want to be! I’ve been doing weights for 30 minutes and then 30 minutes of cardio to end my session!

4.  Hey, Skinny!

This month’s food favorite is more of a snack, but it is definitely one of my new favorite things! Hi, I’m Skinny is a grain based snack packed with whole grains & has less than 140 calories per serving! Say what!? The two I’ve tried are Superfood Mean & Green — which has kale, spinach, and peas — and Sweet Potato! They’re both great and easy for work, school, and just any time you’re feeling a little hungry and want something to munch on (without having to feel guilty!) So far the Sweet Potato are my favorite, but can’t wait to try them all!

5.  Chillin’ in the Arctic  SAM_0212.JPGThis month’s sweet treat favorite is Arctic Zero’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice cream.  As I’ve been starting my new health craze, I knew I had to find a dessert that could satisfy my sweet tooth without sacrificing all of my hard work. Well, look no further! This company (as well as the other similar & popular Halo Top) have brought us an eat-the-entire-pint-without-feeling-guilty mentality! With each flavor having different calories per serving, most are between 35 – 75 calories for 1/2 a cup and 150 – 300 calories for the whole pint! If you think about it, that’s basically 13 pieces of kitkat bites (which are my weakness!) at around 302 calories. Talk about a no brainer the next time I’m reaching for a sweet treat! 🙂
